Project description (in brief):
The project was conducted in Hau Giang province. The purpose of the project was to improve the awareness and behavior of women and girls aged 11-14 on cervical cancer in the project sites, reduce the rate of women with cervical cancer through the IEC activities, screening and treatment of abnormal cases
Practical work done by the institution’s staff:
- Design and print communication materials, and produce news on cervical cancer for communication;
- Organize the IEC activities for the local people;
- Distribute leaflets and hang posters at the schools, organize the extracurricular talks at the schools;
- Compile materials and train in screening and diagnosis methods for the health workers;
- Organize screening, colposcopy, biopsy and diagnostic pathology for the suspected cases;
- Process data and write results report
Projects 2
The project of “Strengthening Provincial Health Systems”, with technical and finanical supports from the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), has conducted the cervical cancer screening program in the five project provinces. The program’s direct interventions cover capacity building training and activities on screening/counseling, VIA screening, Cryotherapy (for precancerous lesions treatment), treatment referral and case management. In order to assess the effectiveness of cervical cancer screening after three-year implementation in the project sites (2014-2016), the consultant, RCRPH, was selected to undertake the final evaluation of cervical cancer screening in the five project provinces of Nghe An, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Yen Bai and Phu Yen.

The project was conducted in Thai Binh province phase 3, to continue the phase 1&2 conducted in 2011-2014. The purpose of the project was to improve the awareness and behavior of women and girls aged 11-14 on cervical cancer in the project sites, reduce the rate of women with cervical cancer through the IEC activities, screening and treatment of abnormal cases
Projects 4
The purpose of the study is to provide evidence for policy makers- the Ministry of Health in Vietnam to draft a guidance circular on how to deal with and tackle the problems of medical errors and adverse medical events. The specific objectives are to collect statistics on adverse events reported at health facilities in Vietnam since 2012 to present; describe the means of management and response to adverse events currently applied at health facilities in Vietnam; and; explore the perceptions of involved target groups in terms of management and coping with adverse events.

The assessment is to evaluate the situation of health services provision according to the National Guidelines in the following seven areas of medical services: (1) Emergency care (trauma and first aid only); (2) Intensive care, (3) X-ray diagnostics; (4) Obstetric care; (5) Emergency obstetric care; (6) Newborn emergency care; (7) Intensive newborn care in the provinces Thai Binh, Phu Yen and Yen Bai.

TOT training and monitoring on the use of data recording, reporting and supervising forms for cervical cancer screening was implemented in 5 project provinces with the aim to equip knowledge and skills for trainees to work as trainers in training courses for district and commune statistical staff on cervical cancer screening through TOT training; and improve skills on recording, collecting and reporting data on cervical cancer screening of statistical and reporting staff through support supervision.
